Although I agree that this has been a very prevalent pattern throughout history, I do in some way think that we are very slowly digressing entirely as a species. this video made me realize that it's not just Gen Alpha, but the next generation (Beta I believe it was) could be very similar. Gen Alpha children could grow up very fondly to the Ipads and screens they are so addicted to. As an effect, they will probably get their children Ipads too. Unless we find a way to stop this madness our attention spans will very legitimately not exist. Of course it won't all be the same like Skibidi toilet, but It will all be the same structure.

personally, i dont think the issue is the lack of multiplication skills. While these are very important skills for managing money and whatnot, I think the main problem is that this is a sign that they dont want to do anything that will get them anywhere. And yes, as you said, most of all of the generations were said to have had trouble with their work ethic, but it seems it is getting worse and worse with each generation. And I believe that it is not limited to work ethic, but many other faults as well. But of course, we dont know for sure if it is doomed.

Ok counterpoint the evolution of technology has gone on much to fast, we are litterally destroying our minds and the planet we live on, and keep in mind Aristotle came from a society on the brink of collapse

We are fucked we are going back to an age of surfs and the people who own our lives will be the tech billionaires, they are actively destroying our ability to read and spread ideas, it's been decaying for a long time, a snowball effect of trauma, ego, and hate. And the extremely addictive nature of the "new thing" has to have further reaching consequences.

Im gen z but I've been homeschooled all my life and I learned to write cursive at 5 years old. I believe there can still be hope for few gen alpha kids, but because my future kids will be part of the next generation, (which will most likely be even worse) I will do my best to be a good homeschool mom and give them all the best protection, education, and lifestyle even when other kids their age could be getting into possiblly like you said, "brainchips" I also noticed and felt bad on how lots of alphas can't even read until they are at least 6 years old!

As an _Australopithecus_ , I am appalled at seeing kids nowadays not walking on 4 legs and eat literally anything from wild and that too raw. Fire has ruined today's generation. Back in the day, we used to swing on branches and hang from them for extended periods of time. Idiots nowadays cannot even grab a fish with their so called "two hands"

As someone who loves discussions on generational differences, I applaud you for doing a fantastic job at breaking down youth trends. Although as Gen Xer I’d like to think we never became uncool because all the millennial backlash went to Boomers while we were just the rarely visiting cool uncles/aunts. Now that 80s musical synths and 90s style is coming back, we’re here to walk Zoomers and Alphas through the art of not cynicism and not caring.

Im one of the rare people who think generation Alpha is way better than Gen Z. People in my age group were suffering way too much from things like Parental abuse and family abuse for any reasons (gender, sexuality, religion and more) which in the past was known as illness or against god. When Millennials got children many of them already went thru what most of the Gen Z people are going thru in family abuse and they are more accepting and supporting than it was it the past, making Gen Alpha a more tolerated and even stress free generation with more friendlyness in the daily life, same goes to Gen Z having children since they both started activly to rebel against the old norm. Even looking at the children outside (no FBI needed dont worry) i see them being quiet, respectful and open minded while also trying to listen. Back in my childhood it was totally in to be the biggest and most disgusting asshole ever, rebeling against everything that is not a part of the own idiology and ignoring the care of everyone else as long as the own oerson sees it as right, like the "The Last Generation" group in Germany who glue themself on the roads to protest against climate change as example. They all are Gen Zs and Gen Z alone. Gen Z overall are just rude, crazy (in a bad way), jerks and rebelious to stand their own ground and that says someone who is 21 himself and constandly insults himself because i give a shit. Socially seen, Gen Alpha is great and a VERY big improvment compared to my generation and i got big hopes for them and for Generation Beta. PS: I fucking grew up with UA-cam Poop from 2012 to 2014. Show this the children today and they will look disgusted. Like, seriously show them Everybody hates Chris YTP from 2012 and they will think we are retarded, same as we do with this skibidi toilet thing.

honestly im 13 rn (2011) and there's just so much pressure to be on a side. Personally, I don't care whether I'm a gen alpha or a gen z, but other people are arguing what I am, where the cutoff is, because we all want to categorize ourselves to decide who's spoilt and who's not, who has brainrot and who doesn't, who's lazy and who's not, who's better and who's not. I just want to enjoy my age, without the pressure to act older or younger.

This happens to every generation. I think Gen Z is going to struggle with this reality more than other generations have because they went so hard (and so publicly) on roasting older generations for being ... older. So much of their identity was their age. But time catches up with all of us.

I love how people blame everything else but themselves. It's not movies it's not games it's not social media it's people. It always has been people and always will be. We are the problem. Instead of blaming the fake problems. We should be fixing the real problems. Like the fact that so many people have not came up with this conclusion is actually mind blowing.

I agree with a lot of stuff said here, but I disagree with memorizing multiplication becoming obsolete. Even if kids now can carry around a calculator with them everywhere, times tables are building blocks for later concepts in math. Practicing simple multiplication as a kid is probably pretty good for exercising the brain. Sure, there are a lot of new things that Gen Alpha is going to have to learn due to tech advancements, but I don't think that means that we should throw out old things. This is probably biased, coming from someone planning to teach these kids. But while I was TAing for a 5th grade class, I was really impressed with their math and critical thinking skills. They were great at problem solving. I once graded their math facts papers, and there were very few of them who missed a lot of equations. They had obviously learned their math facts and to me it seemed to be doing them some good. I don't think Gen alpha is doomed or is going to be a big problem. They'll be ok, and figure themselves out, much like every other generation.

If you want to have a better child in generation alpha, just dont give them smart devices. Just use a smart tv just to put old cartoons and old video games. While he/she is studying just give them books
